With over 100km of designed streetscapes and best practice examples like Linear Garden Street, Pimpri Chinchwad is among the few lighthouse Indian cities creating healthy street infrastructure. Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) further plans a citywide scale-up of NMT infrastructure through projects like the Urban Streetscapes Programme and the master Harit Setu (Connecting greens through NMT) master plan.
Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is keen to adopt a data-informed approach to implement its NMT infrastructure scale-up successfully. With this vision, PCMC, in collaboration with ITDP, published an extensive street assessment report to understand the effects of the existing infrastructure on citizen behavioural patterns. The “Pimpri Chinchwad on Foot and Cycle” report is based on learnings from six months of rigorous surveys and analyses on 13 streets in the city. The report also highlights the importance of street impact assessments and data collection.
