The Transport4All (T4A) Challenge was launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on 15 April 2021 to improve the accessibility, reliability, and efficiency of public transport in Indian cities. ITDP India served as the technical and coordination partner, supporting cities and startups through problem identification, solution development, and pilot implementation. The Challenge brought together citizens, transport agencies, civil society organisations, and startups across three stages, from identifying everyday public transport challenges to testing innovative solutions. This compendium documents the Challenge’s journey, participating cities, startup solutions, reported pilot outcomes, implementation learnings, and pathways for cities to adapt and scale successful solutions.
